Equal Treatment Policy
How the Academy ensures every participant, coach, member of staff, and applicant is treated fairly and free from discrimination.
The Cayman Islands National Coaching Academy believes that sport belongs to everyone, and treats every person fairly, with dignity and respect, so that no one is treated less favourably because of who they are. The policy applies to everyone connected with the Academy — participants and coaches in training, applicants, parents and guardians, staff, instructors, contractors, volunteers, and visitors — and to every part of its work, including recruitment, course delivery, assessment, communications, events, and complaint handling. It reflects the fairness and non-discrimination principles of the Cayman Islands Constitution and is read alongside the Disability Discrimination Policy.
The Academy will not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or less favourable treatment based on characteristics including race and ethnicity, sex and gender, age, disability, religion or belief, family and marital status, and socio-economic background. In practice this means:
- Places and roles offered on merit against clear, fair criteria
- The same quality of coaching, support, and assessment standards for all
- Reasonable adjustments so disabled participants and others with additional needs can take part fully
- Steps to reduce barriers to participation and create an inclusive culture
Prohibited conduct — including direct and indirect discrimination, bullying, harassment, and victimisation — may lead to disciplinary action up to removal from a programme. Concerns can be raised through the Learner Complaints Procedure, safeguarding concerns are referred to the Safeguarding Officer, and the policy is reviewed at least annually.
